Taylor Swift’s Love Web: Joe Alwyn, Matty Healy, Travis Kelce, and the Chaos Between (Part 1)
Taylor Swift shocked the world when media outlets reported that she and longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn had called it quits after months of engagement/wedding rumors.
She then shocked the world when her rebound after the end of her 6-year relationship was with a controversial man named Matty Healy. Even more shocking was the fact that these two have been in a decade-long situationship, and we only found out in 2023!
Continuing with the shock factor, she and Matty end things, and in the same timeline, she starts hanging out with Travis Kelce, another “controversial” man for Taylor Swift.
Lucky for you, I have some inside tea on these four.
Let’s start from chronological order, and for the sake of keeping this at a normal length, more details can be provided to you in the question box below. This topic will be broken up into two posts.

“Matty Healy was always there.”
A real quote from my source.
We all know the lore behind why Taylor and Joe got together.
Taylor was facing an overexposure back in 2016 that was predicted to be her fall from grace. She was being called out for her fake relationships, her whiny personality, and her attention-seeking habits.
Joe was everything Taylor needed and thought she wanted.
Smart. Funny. Talented. Educated. And most importantly, quiet.
He gave Taylor what she and her pretentious (sorry to my Swifitie friends reading) fandom wanted. Someone eloquent enough for sublime Taylor.
He matched Taylor in smarts and in talents when it came to producing and writing songs that show depth and emotion.
Both of them wanted similar things when they were dating, and both had an understanding that they could have private lives even separate from each other.
This was why some of my sources have had the notorious idea that these two are more of a PR than a genuine relationship. It’s debatable. Sources through the years have said different things, but they all agreed that Taylor sets the tone for her relationships based on what she needs to portray to the public.
While everyone online was saying Joe and Taylor were secretly married/engaged, ScandalousMedia was the only form of media telling you this isn’t true. And what happened a few months later? They broke up.
In the midst of whatever Joe and Taylor had… Matty Healy was always there.
Insane work, right?
Matty and Taylor met in late 2014 backstage at a 1975 concert.
This led them to exchange numbers, and rumors swirling after Matty was seen with a 1989 T-shirt and Taylor was seen with a 1975 T-shirt.
Things didn’t work out and Matty diminished and downplayed their relationship, later calling the rumors of him dating Taylor as emasculating in 2016.
Matty was always triggered and insecure over Taylor’s fame. He was the type of boyfriend who projected being “messed up” on a girl.
“He projected onto her in the media back in 2016, talking about how dating her would’ve been emasculating for him because he was insecure. Don’t get me wrong, Taylor is not known to be a chill girlfriend, and I’m sure he hated her pretentious act, but in some cases, he thought he was above her because he wasn’t some vanilla pop-star. My source said that Taylor had a persona for her public life and a persona for her private life, which further made Matty think he was above her because he didn’t “need” to pretend to be someone else.
This would lead to them laughing together about how Matty could challenge Taylor to take a public risk, and she simply enjoyed the idea of being with someone “edgy.”

That was just some tea about the dynamic of their relationship all those years ago.
Apparently, since their first initial meeting in 2014, they have always kept in touch, whether romantically or in a platonic aspect.

When I asked my source what Taylor and others thought about this, my source basically said that Taylor would diminish their relationship and make it seem like he was just a good old friend.
“If you look at it from a wider scope, Matty was always there, but if you look at it from a day-to-day thing or a month-to-month thing, he wasn’t often thought of. Only when a decade passed and they publicly dated did we realize how often they actually kept in touch.” —my source
So you may be wondering how Joe felt about his girlfriend keeping in touch with her situationship, and my source said he was annoyed about it.
I guess in a way, Taylor was still loyal to Joe if he was only annoyed about it. I think if Taylor and Matty were anything bigger while she was with Joe, I’d have at least heard the tea of Joe losing his mind.

Joe being annoyed with Matty’s random presence makes me think Taylor and Matty did keep things friendly.
Matty was the icing on top of the Toe (Toe? Jaylor? Joylor?) breakup.
Joe began to feel increasingly frustrated with his lack of privacy, and he knew Taylor was about to embark on a world tour that would solidify her as a legend.
Taylor started to get into one of her new personality traits (or should I say old habits die hard) and wanted to be as attention-seeking as possible with the Eras…era.
She didn’t put it exactly that way; that’s more of the ScandalousMedia twist, which is never a good time for anyone.
The point of the story is, Taylor missed the glamour, the attention, the massive fame, and she wanted a partner who was going to encourage this hunger.
“Joe just wasn't the type of guy who wanted to be the boyfriend of a massive A-list star. And Taylor is the type of girl who needs control of her public image. He was already enforcing NDAs with friends and family, and with Taylor heading into the Eras Tour, he knew the spotlight was only going to get harsher. He didn’t want his life to be even more controlled by Taylor and her team.” -my source
I’ve told you guys in previous posts about Taylor and Joe and how Taylor wanted to have a private relationship without too much media interaction, and it’s why Joe was a good fit.
Sources in the past have always dismissed the idea that Joe kept Taylor private to the world. Privacy was a mutual agreement between them, it was Taylor who wanted the change.
Which is completely fine, but don’t buy into her fans’ theories saying Travis is proud to be with Taylor while Joe hid her from the world.
Not only was the level of fame surrounding Taylor about to explode, but here she was, hypocritical as hell, keeping in touch with a man she clearly has deep feelings for.
Joe was done. Done with Taylor and done with Matty. According to my source, he was so over it, he actually threw Taylor and her team off guard when he initiated the breakup.
“They [Taylor & her team] did not expect a breakup coming. I mean, how could they? There were serious rumors of them being secretly married in the mainstream media. If you notice, her team wasn’t able to produce a reason for the breakup right away, such as ‘Taylor broke up with him to focus on music and the tour.’ The media credits the breakup as just being a difference of personality and comfort level with fame,” -my source
The media makes it seem like this was an amicable decision that, after six years, mind you, three of them before COVID, these two realised they have a difference in personality.
My source confirms that it was Joe who broke it off.
My source also confirms that Taylor and Matty were keeping in touch more than usual during the time of the breakup.
Taylor didn’t have a plan for Joe breaking up with her, and it’s probably why she spontaneously dated Matty right away. It was her way of rebelling.
Rebelling against a plan. Rebelling against Joe. Rebelling against her fans, parents, and media putting her on a pedestal that she couldn’t possibly love Matty.
Taylor, keeping in touch with Matty, also explains why Matty was so fast to be in the picture after her breakup with Joe.
Taylor and Joe broke up in April 2023. Matty and Taylor started dating in May 2023.
The 10-year-long situationship explains the Tortured Poets Department album Taylor released in April 2024.
Taylor didn’t care to hide the fact that she wrote all those songs about Matty instead of Joe. She also didn’t care to hide the fact that she told everyone to go to hell for questioning her relationship with him.
Taylor’s short-lived public romance with Matty Healy
Taylor and Matty were publicly together for about two months. Fans realized that in many of Taylor and Matty’s songs, they have been addressing each other for years through lyrics.
He came to the eras tour show, and she joined him onstage earlier in the year.
They were mouthing things to each other on the big screen during their concerts and the whole relationship seemed to come out of nowhere with Taylor giddy in love.
Some of you may be wondering, if she loved Matty so much, why is Travis here instead?
The assumption is that Matty ghosted Taylor.
People think Matty ghosted Taylor because she said it in Actually Romantic, a song attempting to diss Charlie XCX, who is married to Matty’s 1975 bandmate, George Daniel.
The lyric goes “I heard you call me ‘Boring Barbie’ when the coke's got you brave
High-fived my ex, and then you said you're glad he ghosted me.”
That was not the case. At least it wasn’t the case for their June 2023 breakup.
Listen, Matty is a douche, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he had ghosted Taylor sometime in the random years they were on again.
Taylor and Matty started dating publicly in May 2023, and what happened to Matty is exactly what would happen to someone dating one of the world’s biggest pop stars.
His past got dug up.
Fans were disgusted by him. They were starting to think about whether they should be disgusted by Taylor for publicly saying she loves him.
Here’s a very brief summary of every controversial thing Matty said/did in the past.
Matty has faced backlash for criticising Malaysia’s anti-LGBTQ+ laws and kissing his bandmate in retaliation, which caused the entire festival to be cancelled.
He was criticised for laughing along with offensive jokes about Ice Spice, which brought up his pattern of edgy humor crossing into insensitivity.
He’s had public feuds, insensitive opinions about religion, used a porn site known for content that degrades and brutalizes women of color, performed a Nazi style salute, and insulted Taylor in the past.
Some of these comments happened while he was dating Taylor. Matty’s rise in controversy and rise in hate made Taylor realize she couldn’t be associating with him.
“Taylor was like, ‘Oh!’ whenever more and more of Matty’s controversies were trending. She knew she could not be seen with this man. Taylor broke up with Matty. He didn’t ghost her.” -my source
That’s why Taylor and Matty broke up.
Her team didn’t like him at all, and his image was not something Taylor wanted to be associated with. My source believes that if his controversies were private, Taylor would’ve stayed with Matty because she’s the type to care more about public narrative than anything else.
There’s more tea, though. Matty and Taylor’s relationship was a case of her breaking up with him, but she liked him more.
So I don’t think this relationship would’ve worked out in the long run, regardless.

My source said that Matty doesn’t care to correct the narrative, nor is he even in a position to act high and mighty, knowing how polarizing he is.
My source said he’s the self-sabotaging type, the type to put himself and others down in a “screw her, screw me for being messed up, and screw you all” type of way.
So when Taylor broke up with Matty, he was bummed but not shocked. And he wasn’t all that emotionally in love with her, the way she loved him.
