Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s Fast Engagement: Forever or For The Meantime?
Single-Girl-Sel is no more because Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are engaged.
How did the “hot” girl end up with the “weird” guy? The Internet has been in shambles over this and truthfully… looks aren’t everything… but it’s something that is on Selena’s mind as I will spill.
No one wanted to be more engaged than Selena Gomez herself. And thanks to Benny Blanco, he made that dream come true before 2025.
Fans had originally believed they were engaged when Selena was flaunting a B ring in 2023 when she hard launched Benny to the world with no warning.
Then again last summer when she posted a photo of them together, with an emoji covering her ring finger:
Proposing in an intimate taco-bell picnic was when it finally happened.
Mr. Blanco seems to have some sort of rizz in between saying he enjoyed when his friend pissed in his mouth & telling the Biebers he shits on himself—when he proposed with a marquise diamond ring, an ode to Selena’s song “Good 4 You” where she sings, “I’m a marquise diamond.”
Some people were shocked to see them engaged after a year and a half of dating mainly because it seemed like Selena was the one more interested in him than he was at first. She’s the one who asked him out and initiated things to be serious.
Benny previously said, “She was like ‘I wanna order something different for this date’ and I was like ‘What? We are on a date?’”

Then Selena revealed that she was the first one to say “I love you.”
It was also Benny who said, “I care so much more about having a family than getting married”

Then of course there was the whole Edgar Ramirez drama where Selena was grinding up on him in a TikTok that got deleted by her bestie after the Internet called her out for cheating on Benny.
Her fans swore it was a phase and that she deserved to be with someone hot who doesn’t have quite a disturbing digital footprint.
Selena was once vain and all about looks as exposed in the updated Selena: As A Person post, but after hitting rock bottom quite a few times, she had no choice but to go up.
It’s honestly inspiring.
Selena and Benny work because believe it or not, they have similar personalities. However, Selena’s insecurity is debilitating.
My source told me that Selena had a hand in getting Benny nominated as People’s Sexiest Man Alive hoping that people will see him the way she sees him.
Selena has A LOT of connections that she has built over the years and Benny Blanco—as successful a producer as he is—has always been in the background… in the shadow of the pop star.
This time around, he’s the pop star’s arm candy and therefore their relationship puts a spotlight on Benny. He was already a person of interest to the media, but he got that title because of Selena.
Oh, how the tables have turned… Selena used to be the one using others to be #1 and now people use her… truly astonishing to watch. It shows you that regardless of how mediocre you are, there really is a platform you can rise to.
Will it last?
Selena has always dreamed of being married… there is nothing wrong with that, but she and her fans were the same people tormenting a certain someone who got married.
I’m not scared to come out and say it… Hailey Bieber.
She was tormented as “just a wifey” and “all she has going on for her is that she’s a wife” and there was this negative connotation with the fact that Hailey was married.
And yet… Selena was flaunting her ring and confirming how much she’d dreamt of this moment all over social media.
And again—there’s nothing wrong with that. Had it been Hailey though… everything would be wrong with that.
I wouldn’t say she was desperate to get married, but it was something that she was actively seeking.
As her grandmother said… “Our prayers have been answered.”
My source tells me: “Selena and Benny had a long conversation about getting married especially when Selena started getting trolled online. She wanted to know where Benny’s head was since he publicly expressed that having kids was more important to him than being married. He switched up real quick afterward because she wanted him to fix the public narrative.”
This came after what he said in April saying that he doesn’t care to get married, but would rather have children.
“And as we know, Selena can’t carry children. She wanted to know if that was going to be a deal breaker or not because she’s not waiting around any longer,” my source said.
5 days after Justin and Hailey announced that they were expecting on May 9th, Benny said, "I want to have kids. That's the next goal, to check the box.”
One-Upping The Biebers
Did Justin and Hailey announcing their pregnancy impact Selena? I asked my source.
“Of course it did. As your friend told you during the hate train drama [in 2023], Justin and Selena were in contact and she thought he would leave Hailey. Not only did he NOT leave Hailey, but she got pregnant AND they renewed their vows. That was Selena’s cue to officially move on,” explained my source.
“But it didn’t mean she wasn’t trying to one-up him. Selena has always kept tabs on Justin and Hailey. She would have been locked up for another emotional breakdown had Benny not been there to shoulder the pain.”
Three months after Justin proposed to Hailey in 2018, Selena got hospitalized for an emotional breakdown.
Before getting hospitalized and announcing her social media break at the time, she did an Instagram Live answering questions from fans and said depression had consumed her life for 5 years.
The DailyMail cited a source who claimed that Benny and Selena got engaged in August, but “Selena didn't want her engagement to be tied to Bieber in any way… They knew it would.”
Hailey Bieber gave birth to Jack Blues Bieber on August 22nd.
The insider claimed, “Selena knew that there would be stories accusing her of getting engaged to turn attention away from Justin’s baby, or that people would claim that she did this to one up him.”
The main reason people thought Selena was secretly engaged was because of this photo that she posted where she put emojis to cover her ring finger.
People only correlated things that she did to Justin because Selena would ironically do that too.
On May 9th, Hailey and Justin announced that they were both expecting their first child.
A few hours later, TMZ pointed out that Selena posted cute couple pics including a black and white photo of her and Benny holding hands. Meanwhile… Benny was actually out gambling in Vegas.
TMZ wrote, “The reason that's relevant ... well, Selena posted some snaps of the two of them around that exact same time as well -- kinda making it seem she was with Benny during the bombshell… Again, it's NBD obviously ... but what it suggests is that Selena might've intentionally posted those lovey-dovey photos of herself and Benny on the heels of the Bieber announcement.”
As I said earlier in the post, Benny hinted at proposing to Selena 5 days after Hailey announced her pregnancy, despite saying in April that he doesn’t care for marriage.
Also in May after Hailey announced that she was pregnant, Selena reflected on her time being single yet again and told TIME Magazine that she “was alone for five years” and “Then I came up with my plan, which was I was going to adopt at 35 if I had not met anyone.”
This seemed odd to many because Selena began discussing her desire to have children shortly after Hailey announced her pregnancy.
Then August 22nd came around and Jack Blues Bieber was born…
Just 2 weeks later on September 9th, Selena told Vanity Fair “I haven’t ever said this, but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s life in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while.”
She then said that she’s “in a much better place” now despite thinking she would become a parent saying “the way it happens for everyone.”
She elaborated saying that both surrogacy and adoption are huge possibilities for her because she’s dying to be a mom and she’s excited for that journey, saying “At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby.”
After going on that whole spiel… she then randomly tells the interviewer “I’m not changing my name no matter what. I am Selena Gomez. That’s it.”
You cannot tell me that wasn’t Bieber shade because tell me how she went on a whole rant about how badly she wants to be a mom “the way it happens for everyone” and then out of the blue kinda throws shade at people who change their last name after getting married… the way Hailey did.
“Selena wants to one-up Hailey more than she does Justin. It’s essentially the same thing, but maybe it’s the fact that she’s a woman like her and Justin is this zombie that no one sees… Selena has grown intrigued by Hailey. Kinda like “wow, I can’t believe she’s still here and also growing.’” — my source
What confirms to me that her Vanity Fair talk about wanting to be a mom and not changing her name after Hailey gave birth 2 weeks prior was intentional… is the fact that she started off the sentence saying “I haven’t ever said this, but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children.”
That’s a lie. She first revealed in her November 2022 documentary My Mind & Me that she may not be able to carry children.
She elaborated on that in a 2022 Rolling Stone interview saying that she “likely” won't be able to carry children of her own due to her bipolar medication and “That's a very big, big, present thing in my life," but there are options, like surrogacy or adoption.
She spoke about it a lot and it was heavily covered by the media that is now drowned out by Selena’s revelation that 2 weeks after Baby Bieber was born… this is the first time she’s talking about it.
After multiple viral posts accusing her of victimizing herself and trying to one-up Justin in everything he does… she randomly flipped out at the Women in Film dinner 10 days later saying:
“So yeah I shared that I can’t carry a child. Yeah I shared I have bipolar. F*CK OFF! That’s what my life is. That’s who I am. Screw anyone who tells you you’re a victim. You’re a survivor in my book.”
She then went on a whole tangent saying that she’s just being honest to help other people out there, but again… she was already honest… she was very honest she had a whole press tour about her honest documentary…
She ended her speech calling out people for saying she’s a victim.
What kills me is her little sister looking at her like “here we go again” the whole time… like look at this diva… it’s hilarious.
Do I think she got secretly engaged in August? I don’t think so. I didn’t hear of that happening behind the scenes, but I know that the B ring she was rocking last year was a promise ring as my source told me, so engagement was inevitable.
Also, she had long hair in August and looked significantly different than now with her short hair and slimmer face. So I do believe that the proposal took place in December as opposed to August.

I asked: “Is Benny someone she’s just settling for and checking off life milestones with?”
My source said their story reminds them of Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez’s engagement and short-lived marriage in the sense that… Ariana wanted to be married at that time. The person didn’t matter, but the fact is, she wanted to be married at that point.
It’s why she threw away her marriage so fast and jumped into another relationship real quick. Wrecking someone else’s marriage didn’t matter much to Ariana because to Ariana—marriage didn’t seem like as big of a sacred commitment as it does to other people.
“Benny treats Selena like a queen. He doesn’t awaken her anxious attachment or trust issues. Those issues are rooted deep in her insecurities. In the past, she felt like she couldn’t match her previous partners which took a toll on her. She’s very competitive and was that way with Justin & Abel. She’s chilled a lot lately. Benny isn’t conventionally attractive and the Internet lets him know that.
At the Golden Globes, host Nikki Glaser said, "She's here tonight with her new fiancé, Benny Blanco. And Benny Blanco is here because of the genie who granted him that wish. Man, lucky guy.”

The ballroom erupted in laughter and Selena chuckled as Benny kissed her shoulder.
“Benny knows Selena is hotter than him, but the jokes are starting to get old. Selena is flattered all the time but constantly feels like the jabs also reflect on her. She also feels bad for Benny who jokes about it in a more of a self-deprecating type of way,” said my source.
“I can see this becoming a problem.”
