Why Kris Jenner Never Managed Selena Gomez + How Kris Jenner Works As A Businesswoman

Selena Gomez has been through many interesting life experiences that I’ve documented throughout the years, but one topic we’ve never spoken about was why Kris Jenner never managed her.
For those of you who do not know, Kris and Selena had a little era where they were making moves to mesh up both their brands and there was talk about Kris being Selena’s official manager. Let’s take a stroll back to 2014/2015.
On March 21, 2014, Kendall Jenner and Selena went out to get lunch. Everyone thought they were besties but in reality, Kris was interested in signing Selena so she had them go out to get the public used to seeing Selena with the Jenners.

After that, Selena, Kendall and Kylie started posting a bunch of photos together to show off this amazing new friendship they were having. They even went to Coachella together but suddenly after that event, their amazing friendship went up in flames.
Why you may ask?
What was going on behind closed doors:
One thing you should know is that in March 2014, Selena was going to be releasing another line from her fashion collection called “Dream Out Loud.” It was an agreement between Selena and the Jenners that they were going to promote each other. So while Selena was hanging out with the Jenners, there were headlines about her releasing her clothing line. This is regular business in Hollywood.
During this time, Selena was looking for new management because she started having issues with her mother Mandy. Mandy was Selena’s momager and things were going great for them during Selena’s teen years but as she entered her 20’s, Mandy and her started disagreeing about everything career-related and even personal life related.
This is when Selena realized that she didn’t want her mom to be in charge of everything for her and if you notice, that’s how Selena signed with Interscope and Aleen Keshishian in 2015.

But before Interscope, there was Kris Jenner. While Selena and the Jenners were pretending to be public besties behind closed doors, the Jenners were a bit surprised to see Selena as a party/Bieber obsessed girl.
Now let’s remember that THIS WAS IN 2014. What you know about Selena now isn’t what was public and many events haven’t happened yet at the time. Behind closed doors, nobody knew anything about Selena besides the fact that she was perfect. So when Kylie and Kendall saw how she really was, they were a bit shocked but not surprised because this is Hollywood and most celebs aren’t who they say they are behind closed doors.
Around this time, Selena started opening up to Kris about her problems and her connections in Hollywood. According to my source, she told Kris that she had problems with drugs and alcohol and about her connections to E! News.
“Kris told her if she wanted her to represent her, she needed her to be completely honest about anything that could be leaked or things she was doing behind closed doors.” -my source
That was the difference between Kris and Mandy. Mandy, being Selena’s mother made management personal because she was worried about Selena’s health with drugs which is what caused many of their issues. But with Kris, it was more like “I don’t want to be caught off guard and learn about your issues through TMZ so tell me everything I should know now.”
The issue with that is Selena isn’t always completely honest about her struggles even to people behind closed doors. I don’t blame her, this is how every addict acts but this information shows you how Selena and Kris would’ve started to clash if they worked together.
Kris needs to know about EVERYTHING so when it comes time to fix a scandal, she can. Selena doesn’t trust anyone that easy so being honest 24/7 wasn’t something she agreed on anyway.
During this time, a few people from E! News told Kris to watch out for how manipulative Selena can be. Why are they telling Kris? Because just like Selena, the Jenners have connections at E! News. So while everyone was being fooled into thinking Selena was an angel, people told Kris that she’s tricky and manipulative.
All this information ends up adding up to one event and that was Coachella 2014. Coachella is a well known place to drink and do drugs so you can only imagine how high most attendees are those nights.
At Coachella, Selena was extremely high and drunk. She even met up with Justin to have another one of their annoying on-again/off-again flings. This was Jelena at one of their most toxic states so there were a lot of issues behind closed doors at Coachella.

Justin was annoyed at Selena, Selena was annoyed with him, The Jenners were annoyed with Selena and her surprise drug use, etc. (It was a surprise because in 2014 no one knew Selena did drugs!!)
And then something weird happened. Selena’s paranoia took over and she bolted to the press about how the Jenners AND Justin were both horrible influences on her. I’m not even joking when I tell you how badly she ran to the press. There were so many different articles citing the Jenners and Justin as druggies while citing Selena as someone who wanted to focus on music and not get caught up in their drama.
How does this affect Selena and Kris? Well, Kris obviously isn’t going to work with anyone who is going to sabotage and be against her clients aka her family.

She wasn’t exactly subtle with it. Because Selena was trying to paint the Jenners as drug addicts, Khloe Kardashian took to Twitter to tweet shade towards Selena.

Like I said, Selena’s paranoia took over and she randomly flipped on everything. It was self sabotage since Kris was going to sign Selena but I still feel like in the end, things worked out well for Selena with Interscope and Revival, but I still wonder how Selena’s career would’ve been different under Kris Jenner’s reign. How Kris Jenner is as a Businesswoman
In 2021, we are going to be talking about all things Kardashian/Jenner. Some of you have been begging me to write more about their family and for some odd reason, I keep holding back. It’s like when I tell you guys a story and the messages show that I got the info years ago. Like this story actually. Really makes you wonder what I know now, that you’ll know in a year or two.
So basically Kris Jenner is a good manager but she lacks a lot of morals. What this means is she will live by the “anything to climb the social ladder” rule. This wouldn’t be too bad if she wasn’t using this rule on her…. kids.
Yup! Little old Kylie and Kendall were encouraged to do certain things if it meant becoming more famous and aiding in their family’s legacy.

Now this doesn’t mean Kris brought her children to sleep around or do things for sex, but this means that she was okay with the boob jobs, nose jobs, eyebrow lifts, and basically anything plastic surgery. She is also very much okay with PR relationships and often arranges them.
My sources have always filled me in on Kris and her attempts to get Kendall in PRs with huge musicians. In 2010, she encouraged Kendall to flirt with Justin (yes, Justin Bieber) to try and see if they could date. Kris knew how powerful Kendall would’ve been if she was able to snatch Justin while he was free.

When it came to Kylie, she knew about the underage drinking and sex but didn’t feel like it was in anyone’s best interest to stop it. She just didn’t want the public to put 2 and 2 together when Kylie was 16 and dating Tyga. She was okay with any plastic surgery the girls wanted to get and even at a young age, told them it was okay. It was almost as if it was encouraged.
In Kris’ mind, as long as she keeps them safe and successful, she is doing a great job. And her kids never complained about it either so it’s not like they didn’t like the fact that their mom was more worried about fame than responsibility. This type of thinking has the girls stressed because they will feel the need to compete with each other to make Kris happy. We can talk more in-depth about this in a different post if you guys want.
When it comes to the media, Kris controls a lot. A few sources of mine have said that she has a few people in E! News and TMZ on her payroll and whatever story she wants to break, she’ll go through them. She’s a very smart and loyal businesswoman, she just isn’t the best moral mother.
In Kris’ mind, it’s ALWAYS “you’re either with us or against us.” If anyone is damaging the Kardashian/Jenner image, they will be CUT OUT. And that’s exactly why when Selena turned her back on the Jenners, Kris turned her back on her.
There was no fight with Selena, Kris, or the Jenners but it was more of “ohhh so you’re THAT type of person. Okay bye.” This is why you can see that they’re all neutral with each other but not friends.
