Miley Cyrus' Mentality and How It Didn't Click With Liam Hemsworth: What Miley's Plastic Hearts Album Exposes
If you listen closely, you’ll hear the streets saying that we’re still not over Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth’s breakup. However, we’re all for them moving on and finding their own comfort and love language. This divorce has showed a lot about Miley and what I mean by that is that it opened her up like a book. You know what opened her up more? Her new album Plastic Hearts.
Half of this post’s juicy details are already discussed in today’s video so check it out and then come back here for our little own discussion circle.

NEW VIDEO
Back to regular programming…
As Alana narrated in the video, despite being together for a decade, time showed Miley & Liam that they’re both not able to compromise on certain things.
For a long time, fans thought that it was Liam with the drug problems that affected Miley. That’s funny… whatever Liam struggled with, it wasn’t like what Miley was doing. Look, believe what you want, but this is a topic that we have gotten confirmed about actually.
Check out that post here:
The lyrics of Miley’s song “Slide Away,” which was released directly after her breakup with Liam, insinuated that Liam had some sort of problem.
Slide Away was released on August 16, 2019.
However, the official demo leaked in September 2020 and the lyrics were… twisted.
You guys can go listen to it on our Instagram: exposingsmgblog. It’s the first story in the Miley Cyrus highlight.
Like I’ve always said, Miley is a good person at heart and she’s genuine at everything she does. It’s just at the end of it all, both her and Liam couldn’t comprise on one thing. Miley did try to compromise for him as Alana said in the video, but if you do something that you never wanted to do to begin with, chances are you’re going to go back on your word.
That’s what happened with Miley and Liam.
I’ve been listening to the Plastic Hearts album a lot and so many of the lyrics stuck out for me and I wanted to discuss it with all of you.
“Never Be Me”
Never Be Me is such a sad song that talks about how Miley can never be the idea of what someone wants her to be.
“How’s that sad???”
It’s sad because what people want her to be is something that’s good for her. At least that’s my opinion.
Check out this verse:
It seems like Miley is accepting that she won’t be stable or faithful despite what she does.
Stable would probably the last thing I describe Miley as because she changes it up too much. That can be a bad and good thing and in Miley’s case, it’s always hurt her in the end.
It’s good when she’s using it to be versatile with her career, but stability is something that a person needs to thrive. Speaking from a biological perspective, homeostasis is the state where the body achieves a stable equilibrium between internal, physical, and chemical conditions.
With Miley, rarely any of those factors are stable. Props to her for saying that she’s sober though. Hopefully she maintains that sobriety and doesn’t get bored and switch it up again.
I think that this beginning verse of the song sheds light on her trying to comprise for Liam by wanting to start a family with him, but quickly retracting her stance which led to their marriage plummeting.
This part of the song is her accepting her behavior and apologizing for it because she knows she does it every time. She sings this knowing that she meant no harm even if she did cause it.
The thing about Miley is that she plays a tough game, but she’s quite far from that. These emotional songs definitely bring out her vulnerability that she often masks with her “I don’t give a sh-t” attitude.
“Angels Like You”
This one hurts for us Miam shippers out here 🥺✊🏼
She’s saying that he, Liam, is wrong for her because of the fact that they couldn’t really reach a comprise at that point in their relationship. She sings about how she brought him down with her and that she ruins everything.
There came a point in their relationship where it was just constant fights and drama.
Miley engages in a lot of self destructive behavior and I believe we touched upon this in the Miley As A Person post.
I like how the song doesn’t paint Liam to be this demon in their relationship because you know, that wasn’t the case.
Miley and Liam had a very passionate love. They’ve been through a lot together so when they had to let each other go for real this time, it pained them to the point where she wanted to pretend it was all okay for one last time.
I believe that the last line references their wedding. Miley looked dead in the eyes if I’m being honest. I think she thought marriage will fix everything, but that’s actually the worst thing you can do.
I told you guys in 2019 that Miley wasn’t that unbothered as she seemed by her divorce. She was actually in a lot of pain, but pretended not to be because she wanted to avoid the unflattering truth. She was making out with Kaitlyn Carter and claiming “hot girl summer” as if she wasn’t crying herself to sleep every night.
She later confirmed this when speaking about this time in her life as a “death.”
Miley processes information like men. The minute it happens, she’s out partying, drinking, doing drugs, and only a few months later (or even a year) will she process her emotions.
On top of that, she puts on an act and it’s not an act to be mean or anything, but it’s to protect her vulnerability. Little does she know, it reflects badly on her.
A source of mine told me a few weeks ago that Liam doesn’t like how Miley is talking about their marriage and divorce in the media. To him, he looks at their time together as something to cherish and appreciate while she (in his eyes) is coming off as disrespecting everything they had.
This goes back to how Miley deals with her emotions and how she acts whenever she’s distraught.
Either way, Miley is an artist so she will be quite poetic with what she does whether that’s in anger or happiness. For example, she’ll end the Prisoner music video telling her exes to “eat sh-t”
But…. that isn’t how she’s portraying her exes in “Never Be Me” and “Angels Like You,” right? It’s this front that she puts up to protect herself.
Anyways, she is taking this time to work on herself so hopefully she continues to do so and allow herself to achieve some sort of stability in her life.
