Justin and Hailey Bieber Threaten to Sue a Plastic Surgeon for Saying Hailey Got Work Done: Everything You Need To Know + Madison Beer's Drama With This Doctor

While we await the anticipated ExposingSMG posting schedule with all your requests, here’s a little pop culture news update for you guys.

The hot drama as of lately is Justin and Hailey Bieber threatening to sue a plastic surgeon who made a TikTok claiming that Hailey has gotten a lot of work done. I’m going to run through the drama and fill you in on what might happen.

Dr. Daniel Barrett is a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon who has grown a following on TikTok. He basically makes videos talking about different plastic surgery procedures and people request celebrities for him to discuss in which he states his professional opinion on what he thinks they got done.

So he made a video about Hailey.

He states that her transformation is not a result of makeup or puberty or even facetune.

One of his biggest claims is the fact that Hailey got a nose job specifically focusing on the tip of the nose. In his professional opinion, he believes that Hailey has made the tip of her nose smaller and shorter.

He also claims that Hailey has done a lot of other things including getting a chin implant among the popular idea of.. lip fillers.

He then captioned the video saying “Is it too late now to say sorry….”

So that’s basically what Dr. Barrett said. He often ends all his celebrity plastic surgery videos with a “you’re beautiful no matter what” type of message and moves along. He’s generally a nice dude with the way he talks about everything.

While I was taking a look through the comments, I saw that Hailey replied to the video! This is something that I didn’t know about earlier when I was ranting on Twitter. Hailey said that she finds it flattering that people think that her nose is fake.

I love when she pretends to be unbothered knowing damn well she probably had a meltdown about this. Hailey, shoot your girls an email. I’ll train you to be tough as a brick sweetie.

Today, TMZ reported that Justin and Hailey’s lawyers hit the doctor with a “cease and desist” letter. Veteran readers know exactly what that is because Chantel Jeffries hit us with the same one last summer.

The letter states that he’s using Hailey's name, image and likeness in his video without her permission in order to advertise his practice and "spread false, uncorroborated claims that Mrs. Bieber has undergone plastic surgery.” He’s also being accused of copyright infringement for using lyrics of Justin’s song, “Sorry” in the caption. TMZ states that the Biebers’ legal team cites “misrepresentation, defamation, slander, false light, violation of rights of publicity, copyright infringement, trademark and service mark infringement" and more.

They demanded that Dr. Barrett takes down the video within 24 hours or else they will pursue legal action. Dr. Barrett spoke directly with TMZ and said that what they’re doing is crazy and disparaging and that he just wants to educate people on plastic surgery. Final decision? He’s not going to remove the video and he’s willing to deal with the legal ramifications.

What does this all mean?

Well a cease-and-desist letter basically means: stop your claims and we won't take legal action, but if you don't, we will proceed with legal measures. As you can see above, their legal team is threatening to sue on the basis of MANY THINGS! They haven’t sued yet! This letter is just a warning.

The main claim is that he using Hailey’s name in a false light in order to advertise his practice. There is a law in which celebrities have the right to their own publicity and likeness. So since they are public figures, a celebrity has a right to control what their name is being USED for—to an extent of course. I mean if it was illegal to speak your mind about a celebrity or expose things, then this blog wouldn’t exist.

However, there is a fine line when it comes to advertising or selling. When Chantel’s lawyers hit me with the right to publicity, I told them to pipe the hell down because I’m not using Chantel’s irrelevant name to promote or advertise anything. In Hailey’s case, I could see how it could be painted in a way that he’s using HER to advertise his practice. This entire argument comes down to what each party’s lawyers states. Dr. Barrett can always say well I was giving my professional OPINION… which he was.

I found nothing wrong with what he said because he didn’t claim it as a fact. However, professionals are held to a different standard than locals. Professionals can testify in a court of law and that’s what makes them powerful. If I’m stating my opinion, it’s held to a different standard in contrast to a doctor stating his PROFESSIONAL opinion. So I can totally see it going wrong since as a professional, his opinion is treated as a fact.

Another claim made against him was copyright infringement, trademark and service mark infringement which has to do with him using Justin’s lyric. To be honest, I don’t see how their legal team can sue for that. So he used Justin’s lyric in a caption… what about it? But maybe there’s a law there, I’m not sure. TikTok is weird because it differs highly from other social media apps. On TikTok, you CAN use popular music without getting in trouble for copyright as opposed to Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube. So that’s interesting.

Now my favorite claim—DEFAMATION!

As someone who runs a blog exposing celebrities and the media, I have to be aware of what I’m saying because I could be sued. Again, ask Chantel or maybe even ask Selena Gomez. Or ask the other irrelevants that tried it with me.

I wrote an entire breakdown of what defamation, libel, and slander, is in my post that discussed Selena’s team publicly stating that they can’t sue me.

Excerpt from that post:

Libel is the publication of false information through writing.

Slander is the publication of false information through spoken word.

If I were to publish a false post, I could get sued for libel which accounts for a defamation case. If I were to host a podcast were I practically “expose” false information, I can be sued for slander. So that’s the difference between the duo.

Either one, slander or libel, accounts for a defamation case. For a defamation case to exist, it has to be made on the grounds that the INFORMATION IS FALSE. Period. There is nothing around it.

Some people think that a defamation case can only be done if the person’s reputation gets ruined OR they lose a job, but no. While that can make a defamation case stronger, you can only proceed if the INFORMATION WAS FALSE.

This is the simplest way I can describe it.

I can publish an entire story and say it goes viral big time and Selena loses a movie role. Sis still can’t sue for defamation UNLESS the story is false.

….

FALSE INFORMATION = possible case of defamation if proven and on the grounds that it caused severe damage.

CORRECT INFORMATION = no case of defamation whether or not any job was lost or any reputation was ruined because at the end of the day, the truth ain’t illegal.

Defamation for dummies:

If Hailey is ready to sue for defamation then the claim made against her ("she's gotten work done") MUST BE FALSE and she MUST be willing to show PROOF that her claim is false. If this goes to court, proof will be brought up such an x-ray for Hailey before and after or even another doctor giving his professional opinion. I highly doubt it’s going to court because… that’s kind of dumb lol

The fact that she’s commenting on the post and bringing this much attention to this situation makes me believe that she didn’t get any work done. Why else would she go to these measures? Do you know how many celebrities get accused of plastic surgery, but calmly deny? ALL OF THEM. But Hailey is going the extra mile which means…. she probably didn’t get anything done.

Hailey has a very interesting face and I’ve always thought that about her because with her, angles really are everything. In one angle, her nose looks super small and then in another, it looks how it’s looked since she was a child. Sometimes her lips are all plump and other times they look the same. With Hailey, it really depends on the angles.

After some analyzation… she doesn’t look like she got anything done. I feel like with her it’s either contour or when it comes to her lips, it’s that plumping lip gloss.

Am I wrong? Here’s an edit I found on Twitter of Hailey’s face when she was younger up until now.

It’s hard to say she did get something done to be honest.. and if she did, well it sure as hell ain’t obvious. What do you guys think?

May 27 update—after your meltdowns in the comment section below, I’d like to clarify that….

Also, I asked for your thoughts! I’d also like to point out that a reader said a non-surgical procedure could have been done. That totally bypassed my mind. After all, the doctor is saying that she went under the knife which is what Hailey is denying. I’d also like to clarify that when I said “work done” I literally meant like… SURGERY. I didn’t mean filler. I feel like everyone has filler. I might have filler and I might not even know at this point.

At the end of the day, I stated my opinion and y’all had a meltdown. What do you want me to say? I was in the operating room with Hailey as the surgical technician? Weirdos. Back to the post.

I don’t care if she got work done. I don’t care if any celebrity got work done. Good for them, but I feel like if Hailey is being this extra and taking legal measures with her whole chest, then she might be telling the truth.

I find nothing wrong with what Dr. Barrett is doing, but he is kind of delusional. It pains me to say this since I don’t like her……. but I gotta reference Madison Beer here.

Madison Beer’s drama with Dr. Barrett

A few weeks ago, he made a video on Madison where he claimed she got a nose job along with some other things.

His video kind of went viral and everyone was tagging Madison in it. She then made her TikTok private. Madison then reached out to him and was like “that photo from 2017 that you used is photoshopped, I didn’t get anything done, here’s an updated picture.”

He then made another video saying that he was sorry and he explained that she didn’t get any work done.

Madison also commented and he said that she’s going to go down to his practice and they’re going to collab on something.

When I first saw this, I sent it to Alana and I was like “of course this manipulative insecure b-tch is doing the most.” But if I want to be a good exposer, I need to obviously look at the bigger picture.

And so I did… Madison doesn’t seem to have gotten any work done to be honest. It just seems like she knows her way around facetune, angles, and lighting. Take a look for yourself:

2014 vs. 2019

I’ve always thought that Madison is a catfish LMAO because her selfies are extremely different than her face in videos that are taken by paparazzi or red carpet pictures as we can see.

Clarification: for the sake of this post, when I said “work done” I mean surgical work as Dr. Barrett claimed. I’m not kicking out non-surgical procedures or fillers as an option.

Also, Dr. Barrett at his grown age isn’t even getting pictures of the same angle. If I were to do a plastic surgery analysis (and I did on my gal Selena lmao), I make sure to get the before and after pictures to be the same in every category: angle, lighting, makeup/no makeup, and etc.

In the first video on Madison, he got a picture of her smiling and then a picture of her doing a duck face. The act of a smile stretches out the nose in pictures so of course it’s not a fair comparison. You have to compare the before and after pictures under the same circumstances.

He did the same thing with Hailey when he chose two pictures to compare and both pictures were from DIFFERENT ANGLES. Of course if you’re shooting Hailey from the top, her nose is going to look different than when you shoot her from the bottom and with her head tilted up.

It’s also kind of clear that she has her nose contoured in the second picture.

I think Dr. Barrett knows what he’s talking about, but he’s using altered pictures (without knowing since he did no research). As a professional, he needs to be more precise with things like this. How is that I, a random blogger on the Internet, is more accurate when making claims? When I claimed that Selena got a nose job, I provided accurate comparisons. I ain’t gonna compare Selena’s heavily contoured nose in a selfie and then her with no makeup at the age of 15.

What am I claiming as of recent? That Selena got filler in her forehead. When I say something like this, obviously I’m going to use an accurate comparison to do so. For example, I used a picture of Selena raising both her eyebrows to show how her forehead wrinkles disappeared with the use of botox or filler.

P.S. I used this example of Selena because she’s the only other person I posted about her getting plastic surgery. It wasn’t meant to deter away from the main point of the post. I used it to compare when talking about Dr. Barrett and how he doesn’t choose fair comparisons in pictures.

If Dr. Barrett wanted to do this comparison, he probably would have chosen pictures that are not accurate as he did with Madison and Hailey. And the fact that he’s basing his entire analysis on PHOTOS then he needs to make sure that those photos are a FAIR comparison if he wants his credibility to be taken seriously.

At the end of the day, anyone can do whatever they like. However, those people with a platform such as Dr. Barrett and myself, need to be as accurate as possible. I’d sue too if I’m confident that I didn’t get anything done and some doctor is claiming I am. It’s going to be interesting to see this play out.

Many of you have requested that I start a plastic surgery series on this blog. I’m open to it. I think it’s interesting to see everything that celebrities have gotten done and I’ll do a better job at proving my claims than Dr. Barrett and his photoshopped-out-of-context pictures LMAO. Leave me your thoughts.

What do you think about this whole situation with Hailey? How about Madison? Thoughts on Selena’s forehead filler? Comment down below! You can comment anonymously so take advantage of that. I will be replying back.
