Stars Dance Reviews/Stats

Selena’s fourth album, Stars Dance, debuted #1 on Billboard by selling 96,500 copies, selling only 54k digitally. It’s said how it took her four years to debut a #1 only not to pass 100k sales. She only wrote three songs which were all bonus tracks. I would give you my review on it, but why do that when I can actually give you legit critics.

Los Angeles Times gave it 2.5/5 stars. Read the review here.

“Gomez is a resolutely average vocalist, but Stars Dance is like getting a piña colada the size of a basketball chucked at your head from a St. Petersburg hotel balcony.”

NY Daily News gave it 3/5 stars. Read the review here.

“It helps that Gomez boasts a far richer voice than her idols, Britney, J.Lo and Janet. Then again, so does a chipmunk.”

The Independent gave it 1/5 stars. Read the review here.

“Consisting of standard, supermarket-own-brand, sub-Britney sexpop, this album has been given to her to wear, just like a stylist giving her an outfit for a photo shoot.”

Rolling Stone gave it 3/5 stars. Read the review here.

“All work and no public meltdowns make Selena a dull girl.”

Billboard gave it 78/100. Read the review here.

“After a while, Stars Dance begins to sound like an exceptionally produced Disney workout playlist.”

Yeah her album may have went #1 mainly because there was literally no competition, but it sure is flopping in reviews and sales. And it’s funny how Selena says that it’s her most personal album when all the songs are about partying and sex.
